Yi So-yeon, South Korea's first astronaut

South Korea announces first female engineer as an astronaut from the country after Russia said that the previous candidate, Ko San violation of the rules in the training center outside angkasa.Wanita named Yi So-yeon 29-year-old will be sent to the space station next month in the space shuttle mission Russian Soyuz. Fate of Ko San

"The Russians emphasized the importance to obey the rules because of an error, however small can be fatal in space," said Lee. Ko San beat 36 thousand candidates who hope to become the first South Korean in space. With the fund 20 million dollars, 31-year-old man was sent to the Russian Federal Space Agency to participate in training for the Soyuz rocket mission to the International Space Station early this April.

But after the incident, called a violation of protocol, the first South Korean in space are women. Ko will be replaced with the backup, Yi So Yeon. The South Korean government confirmed Ko will remain entered in the Russian space training programs, though now he's a backup astronaut.
